Ingredients:
- 2 slices rye bread (marbled rye recommended)
- 1 large slice deli pastrami (or 2 smaller slices)
- 2 slices Swiss cheese
- 3 Tbsp sauerkraut, drained
- 1 Tbsp Thousand Island dressing (plus extra for dipping)
- Dill pickle and potato chips for serving (optional)
Directions:
- Prepare Your Ingredients: Press out any excess liquid from the sauerkraut using a paper towel — this keeps your sandwich from getting soggy. Lay your two rye bread slices on a clean surface.
- Build the Sandwich: On each slice of bread, place one slice of Swiss cheese. On one slice, layer dressing, sauerkraut, and pastrami in that order. Close the sandwich.
- Press and Cook: Place the sandwich into the Toastie Press and clamp shut. Insert the Toastie Press into your toaster’s designated slot and select the Toastie Press™ setting. Toast until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
- Serve and Enjoy: Remove carefully, slice if desired, and serve with a dill pickle, chips, and extra Thousand Island dressing for dunking.
