Use festive cookie cutters to create fun shapes for holidays and parties. We made heart-shaped pie pockets for Valentine’s Day, but you can customize them for any season!
Equipment:
-
Revolution Connect Plus Smart Toaster
- Revolution Toastie Press
- Cookie cutter, sandwich cutter or Uncrustable-style mold
Ingredients:
- 2 slices soft sandwich bread
- 2–3 tablespoons pie filling (apple, cherry, blueberry, etc.)
- 1 egg (optional, for sealing)
- Powdered sugar (optional, for topping)
Directions:
- Prepare the Bread: Lay one slice of soft white bread flat on a clean surface.
-
Add the Filling: Spoon 2–3 tablespoons of pie filling into the center, leaving space around the edges.
- (Optional) Add Egg Wash: If using, whisk the egg in a small bowl. Lightly brush around the edges of the bread to help seal the pocket.
- Top with Second Slice: Place the second slice of bread on top, covering the filling completely.
- Cut and Seal: Use a cookie cutter, sandwich cutter, or mold to press and cut the bread into your desired shape. Press firmly to seal the edges.
- Load into the Press: Place the sealed pie pocket into the Toastie Press. Clamp shut.
- Cook Until Golden: Cook using the Toastie Press setting on High.
- Cool and Serve: Remove carefully and let cool for 1 minute. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm.

Pro Tip: Crimp and Seal with Two Cookie Cutters
For the best seal, use two cookie cutters of the same shape in different sizes. Nest the smaller cutter inside the larger one, and press down together. This crimps the edges instead of cutting them off completely, creating a tighter seal that helps keep the filling inside while adding a decorative finish.

Why Make Homemade Hand Pies in the Toastie Press ™?
Using the Toastie Press makes it easy to turn simple bread and pie filling into warm, golden hand pies without turning on the oven or dealing with hot oil. The even heat crisps the outside while warming the filling perfectly inside, giving you a bakery-style result in minutes. It’s faster, cleaner, and more convenient than traditional baking — especially when you’re making batches for holidays, parties, or entertaining.
