Challah French Toast with Cinnamon, Vanilla & Fresh Berries
A Brunch Favorite with a Rich, Custardy Twist
Challah bread is the gold standard for French toast—its soft, eggy crumb soaks up the custard without falling apart, creating a creamy center with a perfectly crisp exterior. This version infuses the batter with cinnamon, vanilla, and a hint of orange zest for a fresh, aromatic flavor. Serve it warm with seasonal berries, a dusting of powdered sugar, and maple syrup for a show-stopping brunch that’s as beautiful as it is delicious.

Ingredients:
- 2 (1-inch thick) slices challah bread, preferably 1 day old
- 1 large egg
- 1 Tbsp. heavy cream or half & half
- ¼ tsp. orange zest
- ¼ tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- Fresh seasonal berries, maple syrup, and confectioners’ sugar for serving
- 1 Tbsp. softened butter, optional
Directions:
Prep the Custard:
- In a shallow dish, beat the egg until blended. Whisk in heavy cream, orange zest, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
- Place both challah slices into the custard mixture, coating both sides. Let one slice soak longer for an extra custardy bite. Shake off excess before toasting.
Toast It in the Revolution Toastie Press:
