Gluten-Free Reuben Sandwich

Gluten-Free Reuben Sandwich

Corned beef, Swiss, and sauerkraut—perfectly stacked on gluten-free bread

This gluten-free Reuben sandwich delivers everything you expect from the classic—savory corned beef, melty Swiss cheese, tangy sauerkraut, and creamy dressing—served on properly toasted gluten-free bread.

Using a toaster with dedicated gluten-free settings helps ensure even browning without drying out the bread, so the sandwich stays crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.

Equipment:

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices gluten-free bread
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • ½ teaspoon ground caraway
  • Russian or Thousand Island dressing
  • 2 slices Swiss cheese
  • ¼ pound thinly sliced corned beef (from the deli counter or leftovers)
  • ¼ cup sauerkraut, drained

Tip: If you have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, choose deli meats and dressings labeled gluten-free to avoid cross-contact.

How to Make a Gluten-Free Reuben Sandwich:

  1. Toast the bread using the gluten-free setting on your toaster.
  2. While the bread toasts, melt the butter and stir in the ground caraway.
  3. Brush the caraway butter evenly onto one side of each slice of toasted bread.
  4. Spread Russian or Thousand Island dressing over the buttered side.
  5. Layer Swiss cheese, corned beef, and drained sauerkraut onto one slice.
  6. Top with the second slice of bread, slice in half, and serve warm.

Tips for the Best Gluten-Free Reuben:

  • Drain the sauerkraut well to prevent soggy bread.
  • Let the cheese warm slightly so it melts into the sandwich.
  • If needed, return the assembled sandwich to the toaster briefly on a low reheat setting

Why Make a Gluten-Free Reuben Sandwich in the Revolution Smart Toaster

Gluten-free bread can be difficult to toast evenly, especially for sandwiches with rich fillings like a Reuben. The Revolution Smart Toaster includes dedicated gluten-free modes that automatically adjust heat and timing to match the structure of gluten-free bread.

That precision helps the bread toast to a crisp exterior while staying soft inside, creating a sturdier base for classic Reuben ingredients like corned beef, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut. The result is a gluten-free Reuben sandwich with better texture, better balance, and none of the dryness or scorching common with standard toasters.
